Classes

At each branch there are three or four standard classes conducted each night consisting of ‘Juniors’, ‘Intermediates’ and ‘Seniors’. We also conduct classes for those students who show potential for furthering their skills and education in dance performance. Children are selected to participate in these classes known as ‘Mini-Cabaret’, ‘Cabteen’ and ‘Cabaret’. Commitment and dedication are particularly required to succeed in these extension classes. Junior Classes range from 4 - 8 Years

Intermediate Classes range from 9 -12 Years

Senior Classes are 13 Years upwards

UNIFORM

It is always nice to see students dressed in a uniform manner and this is what we strive for at WA Stage School. It also assists with choreography during classes as there is not a rainbow of colours flashing in the teachers eyes!

All classes are required to wear a WA Stage School Top as part of their dancing uniform being either a Singlet, Tank Top or T-Top.  Juniors are required to have Tan Jazz Shoes and Tan Stockings.  All other classes must have Black Jazz Shoes or Jazz Sneakers and any of the following apparel:

  • WASS Jacket
  • ¾ Baggy Fold Over Pants
  • Shorts
  • ¾ Hipsters
  • Long Hipsters
All of the above can be purchased via the WA Stage School in the appropriate school colours which is Black and Gold.

There is also a requirement by concert time for Senior students to have purchased and practice dancing in Tan Chorus/Cabaret Shoes.

End of year performance

All students work towards a show at the end of the year.

If students are unable to attend the end of year show, it would be necessary for the parents to advise the principal before term three commences, as this will assist in any changes to choreography and costuming.

Costumes

Costumes are fully organised by the School. This guarantees the quality and uniformity of costumes, both of which are vital factors of performance and dance.

Each student is required to purchase at least 1 whole costume and hire the remaining costumes.  Students who withdraw from classes after the completion of term 2 will still be liable for payment of costumes as the material has already been purchased at this time.

We have developed the following fund raising and banking facilities to assist parents and students with costuming. The more you raise the less you pay towards your costumes.

  • Costume banking – ongoing
  • Fund raising – ongoing
  • Other fundraising items
